VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA –  Project KELP founder Milian Chen was honoured to be one of the British Columbia Premier’s Recipients of The King Charles III Coronation Medal, the award was presented by B.C. Premier David Eby with B.C. Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin at the HMSC Discovery in Vancouver on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

The King Charles III Coronation Medal is a Canadian honour established to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III, recognizing those who have made significant contributions to Canada and their home province.

“This distinguished honour recognizes your dedication, unwavering commitment and the profound impact you have made on your communities and our province. It is a testament to the respect and admiration you have earned,” said B.C. Premier David Eby in a news release.

“I am deeply honoured to receive the medal and encouraged to continue initiatives that promote everyday sustainability we all can do!” said Milian Chen.

Project KELP will continue the projects started and planned, and Milian will expand the reach of Project KELP this fall when she begins her university journey at Stanford University.

Milian Chen
Founder of Project KELP, a current student at Stanford University and a graduate of University Hill Secondary in Vancouver, who loves animals and cares deeply for the environment. She is also the founder and first president of Sustainable Everyday Club (UHill SEC) at her high school. This curiosity for the natural world began when she was little, leafing through animal encyclopedias and watching all the Sir David Attenborough documentaries. She also writes stories and poetry at other times. Milian is a passionate animal-lover, writer, and most importantly a budding conservationist.
